LIP AUGMENTATION

Full lips are often associated with youthfulness and it is not uncommon to see the lips thin down as we age.
Cosmetic lip augmentation consists of the enhancement and reshaping of otherwise normal lips to improve their appearance in relation to the patient’s facial structures. This procedure can help men and women desiring-
- - Slightly fuller lips
- - Larger, more voluptuous lips
- - Lips with enhanced volume and pout
- - Correction of asymmetry of lips
- - Improvement in the appearance of sagging upper lip
- - Correction of wrinkles around the lips
Lip augmentation is a quick, in-office procedure that can produce a marked improvement in your appearance but its effective and safe use requires thorough understanding of facial anatomy and appropriate choice of material or filler. By far the most common & safest material is your own fat or derma-fat using fat grafting/composite grafting technique. Unique advantage of fat grafting is that being your own tissue, there are absolutely no chances of reaction or complication. And the results are usually life long. Artificial fillers can also be used for lip augmentation. Sometimes augmentation of the lips requires multiple injections to distribute the filler for enhanced lip fullness and to raise or define a cupid’s bow (the middle portion of the lip), which has the upturn or vermillion border the red part of your lips.
Some example cases:

Hyaluronic Acid (Restylane, Juvederm) is a natural substance found in our bodies. It is well suited to plump thin lips and it may also be appropriate for some surface wrinkles around lips. The results may last for 6 months to 1 year depending upon the filler being used and requires a repeat treatment session after that. If you choose not to repeat treatment, your appearance will return to its original condition.
The results of soft tissue augmentation using injectable fillers are apparent immediately. Your initial appearance after treatment with any filler may include mild swelling or bruising, temporary redness or an “over-filled” appearance to the treated area. These conditions can be alleviated with icing and will improve within a matter of hours or just a few days.
LIP REDUCTION
Oversized and bulky lips can be reduced to aesthetically pleasing size & shape by Lip reduction technique. This requires incision inside of the lip and the extra bulk of tissue is removed. After the surgery, your lip may remain swollen for few weeks, but ultimately it settles down to desired shape & size. You have keep your head end elevated for few weeks after surgery for rapid recovery of swelling. After healing the scar is invisible (hidden at inner side of lip).
